Handcrafted in 18K Yellow Gold, this 16" Oversized Belcher Chain Choker can be worn alone or with an added pendant on the Sister Hooks. This includes the Butterfly Wings medallion. The butterfly is a symbol of the soul, the essence of a person, the light of which cannot be extinguished. Butterflies are the most visual example of metamorphosis, which is based on the Latin root word “Meta” meaning change, after, beyond, between. The choker is composed of our heavy belcher chain and anchored to the chain are pave sister hooks that fit perfectly intertwined with each other.

The name “Sister Hook” describes a pair of hooks fitted together so that one hook makes the other hook more secure. It’s often used when describing the button hooks on Victorian watch fobs. However, Anything that reminds us of “sisters” in the literal sense, or “sisterhood” is a friend of ours.

Aligning and Re-connecting with our Soul; the absolute, undeniable, irrevocable connection with our essence. They can represent the defiant shout that our soul is ours alone to fuel and fire.

It also celebrates the souls we cherish and keep close to us: a soul mate, our children, our parents. It is cathartic when grieving the loss of a beloved soul. It honors the birth of a new soul. The three butterflies together represent three winged souls of inspiration: Mneme (memory), Aiode (Music) and Melete. Melete is harder to define-if you look up that ancient Greek word you’ll see many translations: practice/occasion/dance/ritual. But, I see it as that “thing” that is particular to you that gets you into the flow where time has no end and anything is possible.
