The scallop shell has long been considered a symbol of a spiritual journey, but in particular the transformation that occurs from actually traveling to a sacred place. The scallop shell is a symbol that you went (or a reminder that it is time to go) on a retreat.

‘Retreat’-the act of going away. Leaving behind the familiar, venturing into the unknown, opening our eyes, with the intention of forging a deeper connection with oneself or a higher power. 

And where do we retreat to? What makes a destination sacred? For me, I really think it can be any place. Any place that encourages me to reflect, to consider who I am in the scheme of the much wider, greater world and to feel refreshed, newly inspired. I really am hoping that our newest doorway to FoundRae, located in the historic Moore building of the Design District, could be considered a retreat of sorts; inspiring you to see the world afresh.
