Every Mother Counts' mission is to make pregnancy and childbirth safe, respectful and equitable for everyone, everywhere. Founded in 2010 by Christy Turlington Burns, and motivated by the belief that maternal health is a human right, Every Mother Counts (EMC) works to advance evidence-based strategies to address the global maternal health crisis and improve maternal health outcomes and experience of care for all. EMC’s work supports community-centered care and workforce development by raising awareness, investing in community-led solutions, and advocating for critical systems change. To date, EMC has directly impacted more than 1.5 million lives, invested more than $42 million globally in 14 countries, and engaged hundreds of thousands of people in advancing maternal health and birth equity.
